Wynfield Cluster Homes

In developing the five-acre property, primary importance was placed upon the creation of a tastefully designed group of clustered dwelling units which would exhibit a sense of stability and community, and coexist in harmony with the surround quiet, established neighborhood. Attention to human scale through the building massing was very important as was the preservation of the mature trees on site. This innovative Master Plan was arranged around a central common area which contained most of the mature trees. Individual units were staggered to achieve privacy and stepped in elevation to accommodate the thirty-five foot fall in topography across the site.

AIA Jury Comments: “A very thoughtful response to a market driven building type. The use of site topography and preservation of significant site features, teamed with a great respect and understanding of issues of public and private places in unit planning and community planning, combine to make this a project worthy of special note for its planning aspect in particular. This is a first-rate response executed with appropriate human scale, great skill and sensitivity not often found in the luxury housing market.”
